Fair Isle

A named sea area used in the UK Shipping Forecast, around Fair Isle between Orkney and Shetland.

The area takes its name from the island separating the Orkney and Shetland groups. Forecasts for Fair Isle describe expected wind, weather, visibility and sea state across the defined surrounding waters.

Strong streams and exposed conditions may affect navigation locally, but no fixed gale frequency or sea state defines the forecast area. Current official forecasts and warnings should be used.
