Bailey

A named sea area used in the UK Shipping Forecast, in the North Atlantic between Scotland and Iceland.

The area takes its name from a sandbank in the North Atlantic. Forecasts issued for Bailey describe expected wind, weather, visibility and sea state for the defined forecast area rather than for a single point.

The name does not imply one typical wind or sea condition. Mariners should use the current forecast and warnings together with the official sea-area map and forecasts appropriate to their route.
