Commissioners of Irish Lights

The General Lighthouse Authority responsible for marine aids to navigation around the island of Ireland and its adjacent seas and islands.

Irish Lights provides and maintains offshore and coastal lights, buoys, beacons and related services across both jurisdictions on the island, and oversees local aids within its statutory remit.

It cooperates with Trinity House and the Northern Lighthouse Board as one of the General Lighthouse Authorities. Mariners should use current charts, notices and navigation warnings when assessing any aid.

• Responsibilities: Irish Lights is responsible for maintaining lighthouses, buoys, beacons, and other navigation aids along the entire coast of Ireland, including both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This responsibility includes ensuring safe navigation for mariners in Irish coastal waters and the Irish Sea.
