Rockall
A Met Office Shipping Forecast sea area in the North Atlantic west and northwest of Ireland.
Named after the Rockall islet, it lies north of Shannon, west of Malin and Hebrides, and south of Bailey in the official forecast grid.
The forecast area covers a broad ocean region rather than only waters around the rock. Published coordinates provide the authoritative limits.
Named for the remote granite islet Rockall, this area endures some of the Atlantic’s strongest gales (Force 9–11) and massive northwest swells. Competing territorial claims rest partly on the meteorological significance of its isolated weather station.
