Malin

A named sea area used in the UK Shipping Forecast, covering waters north of Ireland and west of Scotland.

The area takes its name from Malin Head, the northernmost point of mainland Ireland. Forecasts describe expected wind, weather, visibility and sea state across the defined waters.

Atlantic exposure, islands and headlands can produce substantial local variation, but no fixed wind or sea pattern defines Malin. Current official forecasts, warnings and local navigational information should be used.
