The area takes its name from the island group off Scotland’s west coast. Forecasts describe expected wind, weather, visibility and sea state across the defined waters.
Island topography can create local effects, but no fixed gale force, puffin colony or claimed updraught defines the forecast area. Current official forecasts and warnings should be used.
