The stove primarily refers to a small, often gimballed cooking appliance designed for use aboard boats. These stoves are typically fuelled by propane, alcohol, or kerosene and are engineered to remain functional and safe even in the challenging conditions of a marine environment. Gimbals allow the stove to pivot and maintain a level surface regardless of the boat’s motion, ensuring that pots and pans do not slide off while cooking in rough seas. Marine stoves often feature safety mechanisms, such as flame failure devices, to prevent accidents caused by extinguished flames or fuel leaks.
