Slab Reef
A method of reefing a boomed sail where the sail is flaked down on top of the boom. This allows the sail to be reefed by pulling a line attached to a cringle at its luff and securing it to a hook or cleat on the boom. The clew of the sail is secured using a reefing line, often led back to the cockpit for easy sail management. This reefing system is commonly used on smaller boats and is relatively simple and easy to use compared to other reefing systems.
