North Utsire
Sea area of the Met Office Shipping Forecast. Located in the northern North Sea, adjacent to Utsira Island off the west coast of Norway.
Derived from the Norwegian island of Utsira, North Utsire covers the northern half of the waters adjacent to that island. It lies directly under the track of most Northeast Atlantic lows, with common winter gales, very rough seas and occasional fog or snow when cold continental air meets the relatively warm North Sea. This area recorded one of the North Sea’s highest gusts—over 50 knots during the February 1990 storm.
