Reef Knot
A binding knot formed by two opposing half knots, used to hold a bundle or gather material.
Traditional uses include tying reef points around gathered sailcloth without loading the points as sail-control attachments. It can capsize or spill when used to join loaded ropes, especially of different sizes, so it should not replace a suitable bend for towing, mooring or personal support.
