Horizontal Dilution of Precision (HDOP) (HDOP)
A dimensionless GNSS geometry factor for amplification of ranging errors into the horizontal position solution.
HDOP reflects the east-west and north-south geometry of the satellites used. Lower values generally indicate that common ranging errors will produce a smaller horizontal position uncertainty, while clustered azimuths produce weaker geometry.
HDOP is not horizontal accuracy by itself and does not reveal all multipath, interference, receiver, datum or chart errors. An uncertainty estimate requires an appropriate ranging-error model and integrity information as well as the geometry factor.
