Taut-line Hitch
An adjustable friction hitch forming a loop that can be repositioned when unloaded and grip when tension is applied.
It is commonly used on guy lines rather than as a primary yacht mooring connection. Rope material and the direction of loading affect its grip, and it can slide under vibration or changing tension; similar adjustable hitches have different structures and should not be treated as interchangeable.
