Rolling Hitch
A friction hitch intended to resist movement along a rope or spar when pulled in a chosen direction.
It can be used to transfer strain temporarily from a line, provided the turns are arranged for the intended pull. Grip depends strongly on material, diameter and surface condition; it may slide on slippery modern rope or smooth fittings and must be checked before accepting the load.
