LORAN
A family of terrestrial radio-navigation systems that determine position from the timing of signals transmitted by shore stations.
LORAN-C used low-frequency pulses and time differences between stations to establish hyperbolic position lines. Conventional services have been withdrawn in many regions; enhanced eLoran developments are distinct, and actual coverage and receiver compatibility must be confirmed before relying on either system.
