Halyard Winch
A winch used to haul or tension the line that hoists a sail or other equipment.
It provides mechanical advantage but does not necessarily secure the halyard by itself; a suitable clutch, cleat or self-tailing arrangement may also be needed. Avoid excessive luff tension, check that the sail and halyard run freely, and use particular care with powered winches.
