Half Hitch
A simple hitch made by taking a rope around an object or standing part and passing the end through the resulting loop.
It is often used as one element of a larger securing arrangement rather than as a dependable attachment by itself. A single half hitch can slip or spill as the load changes; additional securing must suit the rope, object and direction of pull.
