The area takes its name from the firth and river estuary. Forecasts for Forth describe expected wind, weather, visibility and sea state across the defined sea area rather than at Edinburgh or the bridge alone.
No standard cyclonic wind sequence or fixed force defines Forth. Current official forecasts and warnings should be used instead of an anecdotal storm description.
