Dover
A named sea area used in the UK Shipping Forecast, covering the Strait of Dover and adjoining eastern English Channel.
The area lies between southeast England and northern France and takes its name from the port of Dover. Forecasts describe expected wind, weather, visibility and sea state for the defined area.
Dover contains exceptionally busy shipping routes and strong tidal streams, but conditions must be taken from current forecasts and navigational information. A claimed typical force, fog frequency or named anecdotal storm is not a stable definition of the sea area.
