Bi-colour Light

A single navigation-light fitting that combines the red port sidelight and green starboard sidelight.

The fitting is mounted on the vessel’s fore-and-aft centreline and uses internal sectors so that the red and green light are visible over their required respective arcs. It performs the same function as two separate sidelights when installed and approved for the vessel concerned.

Correct orientation is essential: a fitting mounted off-centre, tilted or reversed will show misleading sectors. Its visibility, range and permitted use depend on the applicable navigation-light requirements and the fitting’s approval, so the manufacturer’s installation instructions and the relevant regulations must be followed.
