Temperature Inversion
A layer of the atmosphere in which temperature increases with height rather than decreasing.
It can suppress vertical mixing and help retain fog, haze or pollutants near the surface when other conditions permit. Some atmospheric layers also favour unusual radio propagation, but temperature alone is not enough to determine radio or radar behaviour.
