Lee-bow Tack
A racing manoeuvre in which a boat tacks ahead and to leeward of another boat on the same upwind leg.
The aim is to gain a favourable position and disturb the other boat’s airflow once the tack is completed. Its effect depends on spacing, speed and wind, and the manoeuvre remains subject to the applicable racing rules and the obligation to avoid contact.
