0 – Zero (Ze-Ro)

“Zero” refers to the code flag that represents the numerical value of zero. In international maritime signal flag communication, each number from 0 to 9 is represented by a specific code flag, with “0 – Zero” being the flag with a solid blue field. These code flags are used for various communication purposes, such as indicating numerical values, positions, or messages between vessels or between a vessel and shore.

Nautical or signal flags are used at sea to convey messages over long distances. Only black, blue, red, white and yellow are used because these are the only colours readily distinguished at sea. Many different coding schemes have been used, but the International Code is the most common.
