Instruction to Another Vessel: When a vessel displays the X-ray flag, it instructs another vessel to stop its current actions or intentions and pay attention to signals that will follow. This could be to coordinate manoeuvres, indicate a change in plans, or respond to unforeseen circumstances.

Coordination and Communication: It serves as a means of communicating with nearby vessels to ensure safe navigation, especially when immediate attention or cooperation is necessary to avoid hazards or conflicts.

Code Flag X-Ray (X)

Nautical or signal flags are used at sea to convey messages over long distances. Only black, blue, red, white and yellow are used because these are the only colours readily distinguished at sea. Many different coding schemes have been used, but the International Code is the most common.
