2 – Two (Too)

“Too” refers to the number two or the second in a series of items or actions. It can denote the quantity of something, such as two boats, two crew members, or two nautical miles. In radio communication or navigation, “2” may be used to convey a specific instruction or information, such as “turn 2 degrees to port” or “proceed to waypoint 2.”

Nautical or signal flags are used at sea to convey long-range messages. Only black, blue, red, white and yellow are used because these are the only colours readily distinguished at sea. Many different coding schemes have been used, but the International Code is the most common.
